Ian’s interest in money and finance started at an early age when his father gave him a “pretend” checkbook to track every time he spent money or received a gift, from small things like candy at the grocery store to his very first skateboard. Growing up in a typical household where money wasn’t often discussed openly, and at times a source of much stress, he wanted to learn more about how the financial world worked in order to help people manage their finances wisely.
The first chapter of his life was dedicated to competitive swimming for a period of almost 20 years. He was able to represent the United States in international competition around the world including the Pan American Games in 2007 and qualify to compete for a spot on the U.S. Olympic Team in 2004 and 2008. During that time, he attended Southern Methodist University to earn a degree in Finance and Economics.
Upon retiring from swimming competition in 2010, Ian started his career in Financial Planning at Vanguard. He obtained his CERTIFIED FINANCIAL PLANNER™ certification a few years later and has subsequently been committed to serving a range of individuals and business owners with comprehensive financial planning services. Having worked at larger firms in the past, Ian wanted to join BRF for their highly customized, sophisticated, and proven methods for serving clients.
Currently, Ian’s primary hobbies are competing in Triathlons, watching English Premier League soccer games, and playing amateur bartender making cocktails for friends.
